Deutsche Lufthansa AG is an aviation company with operations worldwide.
Measured by passenger numbers and revenue it is now the largest airline in Europe.

The Group operates in five business segments, which provide mobility and services for airlines. The business segments Passenger Airline Group, Logistics, MRO, IT Services and Catering each hold leading positions, or even global market leadership, in their markets. In addition, the Lufthansa Group includes over 400 subsidiaries and associated companies.

The strategic business segments Passenger Airline Group and Logistics provide mobility for passengers and freight. The airlines in the Lufthansa Group are positioned as quality carriers in their respective segments. In order to strengthen Lufthansa’s position still further, new partners from the European home market were added to the Group in 2009. Nowadays, the business segment “Passenger Airline Group” consists of Lufthansa Passage Airlines, Austrian Airlines, bmi, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, SWISS and SunExpress.

Lufthansa Cargo is also a market leader in international airfreight. It offers a global network, shortest transport times and high quality standards in many, often highly specialised, product areas.

The three business segments MRO, IT Services and Catering offer comprehensive services for the own airlines and increasingly also for external ones. Lufthansa Technik is a global leader in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of civil aircraft. Its range of services extends from one-off jobs to the full servicing of entire fleets. Lufthansa Systems is one of the leading global IT services providers for the aviation industry. It offers a broad range of services, from developing customised IT solutions for airlines through to operating complete IT infrastructures. LSG Sky Chefs is the global market leader in airline catering. The 130 companies in the group supply a large proportion of all international, national and regional airlines with their products and services. LSG Sky Chefs is also successfully positioning itself as a full-service supplier for in-flight management. This covers services such as product design and managing sales on board.

At Lufthansa, environmental awareness is a basic part of the corporate culture. This is demonstrated by the careful use of resources, ongoing support of climate research and political commitment to a future-oriented infrastructure and an internationalised air traffic control system in Europe.

At he end of 2010, the Lufthansa Group counted 117,000 employees worldwide. Corporate headquarters is in Cologne. Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich are the key hubs in the company’s worldwide route network.
